We exist to empower investors through education.

Typically, we cover source academic literature and other topics that require an intermediate to advanced level of knowledge.

We want to expand access to our material by educating readers from the ground up!

2 Introductory Courses

In the spirit of our mission to promote investor education, we are compiling 2 courses that we will release throughout the summer:

  • Introduction to Finance
  • Portfolio Management and Theory

All of these materials are based off lecture notes Jack and I have used over the years and have proven to be effective in educating students about finance.

Victoria Lynn will be helping us compile the material as part of her STAR scholars program at Drexel.

The first module for the introduction to finance course is already posted.

The Intent

Our goal with these first 2 courses is to start slow and build the student up to a level such that they can understand intermediate and some advanced source articles discussed in academic literature. We will be highlighting other materials on the web related to the courses because we understand there are different learning types.

Please let us know how we’re doing and how we can make these better. The more help/comments we get, the better we can be.

Wesley Gray, PhD
After serving as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps, Dr. Gray earned an MBA and a PhD in finance from the University of Chicago where he studied under Nobel Prize Winner Eugene Fama. Next, Wes took an academic job in his wife’s hometown of Philadelphia and worked as a finance professor at Drexel University. Dr. Gray’s interest in bridging the research gap between academia and industry led him to found Alpha Architect, an asset management firm dedicated to an impact mission of empowering investors through education. He is a contributor to multiple industry publications and regularly speaks to professional investor groups across the country. Wes has published multiple academic papers and four books, including Embedded (Naval Institute Press, 2009), Quantitative Value (Wiley, 2012), DIY Financial Advisor (Wiley, 2015), and Quantitative Momentum (Wiley, 2016). Dr. Gray currently resides in Palmas Del Mar Puerto Rico with his wife and three children. He recently finished the Leadville 100 ultramarathon race and promises to make better life decisions in the future.
