Welcome Aboard our Newest Teammate: Emeka Oguh!

We wanted to formally introduce our newest independent Trustee to the Alpha Architect team, Emeka Oguh (pronounced Uh-meh-kah)!

Emeka (Chukwuemeka) is a native of Union, New Jersey. After studying electrical engineering at Rutgers, he moved to Wall Street and worked with Merrill Lynch’s fund analyst group. At ML, Emeka evaluated hundreds of equity and fixed income funds and managers over the years on behalf of ML’s $317B in client assets. In short, Emeka knows the finance industry and we would be thrilled with him as a Trustee if his story stopped there…

But it continues…

Not happy with making it to the big leagues at the ripe old age of 26, Emeka went back to academia and received his MBA from Harvard Business School. Immediately thereafter, Emeka joined a startup firm DataMinr as their first business hire.  DataMinr is a fintech firm that discovers high-impact events instantly and critical breaking information long before it’s in the news.  DataMinr went on to raise over $180M in capital and is one of the leading companies in AI and Machine Learning innovation.

Emeka then decided to build his own mobile app studio from scratch (AppTempo) and launched over 500 applications for mobile devices. He published numerous apps, grew the business rapidly, and after three years, sold it.

Emeka is now Founder and CEO of PeopleJoy (http://peoplejoy.co/), a financial wellness firm that helps employers retain employees via financial coaching and student loan repayment programs. Apparently, students with hundreds of thousands of student loan debt care are keenly interested in paying them back, and like employers that help them do so…

As an engineer, entrepreneur, and Wall Street alumnus, we think Emeka will be a great addition to our ETF Trust. He brings a wealth of experience to the table and continues to endure the slings and arrows of entrepreneurship to this day.

When Emeka is not busy disrupting a multi-billion dollar payroll/human resources industry, he enjoys traveling and mentoring underrepresented students.
